What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Abilene Machine LLC?
JOB PURPOSE
This position performs a variety of warehouse tasks to ensure accurate receipts, storage, and shipments to our customers.
LEVEL OF AUTHORITY
This position performs routine duties independently in accordance with established policies and procedures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a warehouse environment that is heated but not air-conditioned. The employee may regularly work near moving material handling equipment and machinery, in areas with moderate noise levels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Accurate movement of inventory.
- Fulfilling, packing, and shipment of customer orders.
- Perform inventory cycle counts when required.
- Complete equipment and safety checks. (harness, forklifts, etc.)
- Work together with other team members and departments to complete tasks.
- Use a variety of material handling machines. (Pallet jacks, hand trucks, propane forklifts, reach trucks, etc.)
- Operate packaging equipment. (Pneumatic stapler, foam machine, nail gun etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, competency, and/or ability required. Technical
- 1-3 years materials management experience, preferred.
- Must possess a current forklift certification or be able to complete in house forklift training.
Physical
- Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds occasionally and/or 25 pounds frequently. The position requires pushing a maximum force of 30 ft/lbs. and/or maximum pulling force of 30 ft/lbs.
- Physical capability to use a personal fall arrest system (full body harness and self-retracting lifeline).
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Physically capable of operating machinery and lift equipment.
- Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment functional capacity test.
