What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Coordinator position at Abilene Machine LLC?
JOB PURPOSE
This position will assist the Used Parts Manager in the scheduling, teardown, and distribution of used tractor parts. This position will also work with sales and used parts as a liaison between the departments to promote teamwork and increased production and sales. This position is responsible for department oversite including supervision of department staff.
LEVEL OF AUTHORITY
This position performs routine duties independently in accordance with established policies and procedures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most of the work is performed in an industrial environment. The employee usually works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work area is normally moderate to loud; however, may reach extremely loud levels while performing certain duties or operating equipment. This position is required to wear appropriate PPE including appropriate hearing protection when working in the teardown area. Safety shoes and Hearing Conservation program participation required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervises Teardown and Prep Shop staff, assigning priorities, completing required paperwork and managing department issues.
- Develop schedule for prep of tractors and determine order of teardown.
- Assist teardown in determining quality standards of parts.
- Train teardown personnel on parts identification.
- Assist in organizing and maintenance of teardown area.
- Assist in the organization of 3-point kits, valve kits, cast housings etc.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations; keeps work environment clean and free of hazards.
- Follows all departmental procedures and policies.
- Mobile welder.
- Start and check tractors when we receive them.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES

Technical
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 3-5 years prior mechanical experience, preferably working with tractors.
- Ability to correctly identify various makes and models of engines.
- Diagnostic and reasoning skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, bend, stoop, reach, and exert 50-100 pounds of force (Level 4 – Heavy Work).
- Ability to stand and walk as required throughout the day.
- Ability to use a computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal.
- Ability to see details at close range.
- Finger, hand, and wrist dexterity sufficient to manipulate hand tools and powered equipment.
- Requires baseline hearing assessment upon hire and annually thereafter.
