Abilities First, Inc., a CQL accredited organization, has been making a difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities for over fifty years. Starting out as The Little Red School House in 1962, Abilities First, Inc. has evolved into the Hudson Valley’s premiere provider of support services for individuals with developmental disabilities. We offer a wide variety of services including school and preschool programs, day habilitation, residential habilitation, community habilitation, service coordination and employment services.
We are seeking a full time, Music Therapist to join our School Program located in Poughkeepsie, NY. This is an opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team focusing on the educational programming for all school-age children at every level of ability. The Music Therapist will provide music therapy services to students, demonstrating knowledge of developmental levels, using a variety of techniques and materials. Responsibilities include scheduling individual and group music therapy sessions, formulating age appropriate treatment plans for each student, writing and implementing IEP goals for each student, and consulting with Classroom Teachers and other therapists to discuss appropriate treatment plans for each student, when applicable.
This is a full time, benefits eligible position. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-3pm; 32.5 hours per week. We follow a school calendar which includes a 6-week summer program; 48 weeks per year.
Hourly Rate of pay: $35.11 - $37.11

Requirements
- NYS Certification in Music Education. Certificate of Qualification or Provisional Certificate.
- Master's Degree in Special Education preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or a related services field required.
- Experience working with students with multiple developmental disabilities.
