Pay Rate: $17.05 to $19.05 per hour

Abilities First is seeking a full time Program Developer. The Program Developer’s primary function is to facilitate the transition for adults to competitive employment with the goal being community based, paid employment. Additionally, to obtain and or create qualitative, community-based employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and maintain employer relationships for future placement possibilities. This will be achieved through establishing a network of relationships with the local business community and related agencies.



Position Standards

OPWDD Discovery First/Employee Training Program (ETP)

  • Perform Assessments and Intake for individuals entering the OPWDD Discovery First/ETP program.
  • Complete all tasks related to Discovery First Program including: Assessments, Interviews with Circle of Support, Observations, File Reviews
  • Ensure all relevant documentation including: Timesheets, Discovery Reports, Therap documentation and all other necessary correspondence/documentation are completed in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with the OPWDD Discovery First/ETP supervisor and attend quarterly meetings.
  • Develop a positive community-based employer network.
  • Ensure a continuous relationship is maintained with employers who have hired individuals through Integrated Employment Services including those who may not have anyone currently employed but remain a viable option for future placements.
  • Provide ongoing communication with SEMP Management team to ensure a smooth transition of individuals to SEMP Extended Services at the appropriate time.
  • Collaborate with Transition Coordinator and School to Work staff to ensure a smooth transition from students already enrolled in the ETP program.
  • Ensure participant satisfaction by working cooperatively with appropriate department supervisor and coaching staff.
  • Be prepared to completely and accurately communicate to all necessary parties an individual's needs for support.

ACCESS-VR

  • All employment outcomes must meet the definition of competitive, integrated employment as described in ACCES-VR policy.
  • Review referral material and set up intake appointments.
  • Initiate relationship with assigned program candidates within one week of being assigned the referral.
  • Contact appropriate ACCES-VR Counselor to discuss cases within one day of being assigned them.
  • All employment outcomes must meet the definition of competitive, integrated employment as described in ACCES-VR policy
  • Attend all relevant meetings that may aid in gaining further insight into an individual that will lead to a qualitative outcome for that person.
  • Request additional information and follow up ensuring needed information is complete for referral.
  • Interview applicant.
  • Write intake summary and complete all other required forms.
  • If applicant is not work ready, contact ACCES-VR.
  • Keep in constant communication with ACCES-VRC regarding your referred case.
  • Provide ongoing communication with SEMP Management team to ensure a smooth transition of individuals to SEMP Extended Services at the appropriate time.

General

  • Transport participants as needed for purposes of intake, job interviews, etc.
  • Ensure individuals are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Ensures all required trainings and certifications required are current, and seeks further support and training where needed.
  • Adhere to agency Code of Legal and Ethical Behavior, which require all employees, consultants, board members, volunteers and affiliates to perform their responsibilities according to ethical and legal standards with honesty, integrity, fairness, good faith and respect for others and the law.
  • Follows all agency policy and procedures and demonstrates continuous regard to personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Performs other appropriate job-related activities as requested by your supervisor or as circumstances warrant.
  • Will incorporate CORE concepts of CQL’s person-centered excellence by respecting people’s concerns and responding accordingly and will use “teachable moments” to assist people in understanding and exercising their rights.

Unless reasonable accommodations can be made, in order to perform the essential functions of this job, an individual shall be required to:

  1. Have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, squat, bend the knees, pivot and grasp with both hands (in order to properly and safely perform the techniques taught in CPR/First Aid, behavior intervention techniques, and lifting and carrying techniques).
  2. Assist individuals in ambulation by providing physical assistance, which may include pushing of wheelchairs.
  3. Have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  4. Possess verbal and written communication skills, in English, to ensure adequate regulatory documentation.

Requirements


· Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field

· One year of sales and marketing experience (preferred)

· At least two years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities in a vocational setting.

· Must have a current NYS driver’s license, free of moving violations; deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier.
