Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Job Summary

Provide direct care and community integration to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Train and assist clients in daily living skills
• Assist clients with dietary needs, meal planning and shopping (including price comparison, coupon usage and staying within budget) as well as proper nutrition such as identifying the four basic food groups.
• Train and assist clients with personal grooming and hygiene needs (such as shaving and restroom assistance), while ensuring daily bathing, hair washing, and teeth brushing are part of their routine.
• Develop leisure and social activities for clients.
• Distribute medications per individual’s schedule after successfully completing medication administration training.
• Record the results of medication administration per each client and report errors and incidents
• Comply with requirements of procedures for safe lifting and/or transfer of clients
• Ensure that all clients partake in community involvement.

Qualifications and Skills

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Direct Support Person (DSP) or State Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Successfully pass required background checks and pre-employment drug screen

Pay: $16.00 per hour
