Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Substitute Van Driver to join our Henry County Public Transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting passengers to designated locations while providing excellent customer service. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and professionalism.
Duties
- Safely operate a 6-14 passenger van or shuttle vehicle to transport passengers as required.
- Follow IDOT safety rules
- Maintain a clean and well-functioning vehicle by performing regular pre-trip inspections.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, ensuring their comfort and safety during transit.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing passenger inquiries and concerns in a friendly manner.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while driving.
- Complete necessary documentation, including trip logs and vehicle maintenance reports.
- Perform heavy lifting when required, such as loading and unloading equipment.
Experience
- Insurance requires drivers be 21 years of age or older and have had their driver's license for at least 3 years
- High School Diploma or GED
- Previous experience as a Van Driver, Delivery Driver, Shuttle Driver, School Bus Driver, or in Paratransit services is preferred.
- Strong driving skills with a clean driving record.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with passengers of all ages.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks as needed.
- Familiarity with local routes and traffic patterns is a plus.
Employment is conditional upon passing a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
