Life Skills Trainer (ILS) - (Independent Living Services)
First and foremost, we are mentors to those we serve! Our job is essentially teaching life skills to adults with developmental disabilities. We share our knowledge and provide mentorship to our clients in order to help them succeed. We are dedicated towards helping individuals in our program to reach new milestones within their lives. Through our program and services offered, we have the ability to help shape and mold someone's life for the better, and to us, there's no better feeling in the world!

It's simple folks, we help change lives! We teach basic life skills through mentorship, support, and guidance. Helping our clients to become more independent is the ultimate goal. And in doing so, we’ve helped to empower so many people from around the community.
We work 1-on-1 with our clients in natural settings such as their homes, workplaces, schools, etc. (In some cases, if preferred by the client, then they may even elect to meet with us over Zoom). Our clients disabilities can range from mild intellectual disability (Mild ID), autism, cerebral palsy, etc. A lot of our clients are high functioning adults and extremely capable of achieving any goal that they set their minds to. Sometimes it just takes a little bit of extra support to get them there and that's exactly what we're here for! Some of our clients have goals of getting their own apartments, whereas others want to find better jobs. Whatever the goal may be our objective always stays the same, helping people grow within their lives is what we do best! Additional areas of training may include, but are not limited to: socialization, self-advocacy training, personal health goals, money management lessons, cooking lessons, shopping goals, etc.
We work with both male and female clients, adults only, ranging in age from 18 years and up.
Our staff must be patient, caring, and willing to go the extra mile in order to help others succeed.
Qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Valid CA Driver License
- Clean DMV Driving Record
- Vehicle Registration
- Vehicle Insurance
- DOJ Live Scan (fingerprint background)
- Drug Screen
- Having a Big Heart & the desire to help people grow!
- Good Time Management Skills
- Great Communication Skills
- Mentoring Capabilities
- Leadership Qualities
- Previous experience working with people w/ disabilities is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work well with people from different cultures, ethnicities, backgrounds, etc.
