What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatcher position at Abingdon Ambulance Service?
About the position:
Receive calls for service from hospitals, physician’s offices, skilled nursing facilities, 911 Centers, insurance companies, as well as the general public.
Dispatch emergent and non-emergent requests for transportation to appropriate ambulance resources, based on location, and level of service.
Utilize a multi-line phone system, Microsoft Office apps, computer aided dispatch (CAD) system, and other office equipment.
The candidate shall:
· Possess critical thinking and multi-tasking skills, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure with indirect supervision.
· Possess experience in a PSAP, a high-volume call center, or in the EMS field.
· Be able to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.
· Although not required, the ideal candidate would also possess an NREMT or Virginia EMT certification.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 48 per week
