This position is advertised as open recruitment , for varying shifts & rotating schedules, with the opportunity for overtime if desired.
Shifts include 8 hours, 12 hour, 13.5 hour, and 24 hour shifts
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergent and non-emergent calls, providing care and transportation to patients in need.
- Assess patients' conditions and determine the appropriate course of action
- Administer necessary medical treatments and interventions.
- Monitor patient vital signs and ensure hemodynamic stability during transport
- Communicate with facility staff to provide accurate patient information.
- Document all medical procedures, assessments, and treatments accurately and thoroughly.
Required Skills
- Strong anatomy knowledge to understand the human body and its systems.
- Drive and ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situation.
- Proficient in assessing vital signs and recognizing abnormalities.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques to determine the severity of injuries or illnesses.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary to move patients safely.
- Excellent patient care skills, including compassion, empathy, and effective communication.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to understand and use it effectively.
- Familiarity with state and agency protocols and procedures for efficient patient transfer

Abingdon Ambulance Service / C-Trans Medical Services is located in Far Southwestern Virginia near the Tennessee/Virginia border, with offices throughout the region. The agency provides 24/7 emergency and non-emergency ambulance transportation to the residents and visitors of Southwestern Virginia and Northeastern Tennessee.
Services include:
- Emergent transportation to hospital emergency departments
- Inter-facility transport (hospital to hospital)
- Non-emergent discharge to home or long-term care facilities
- Scheduled appointments (Physician offices & Dialysis)
- Federally contracted EMS Disaster Response Services
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
