What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Art Instructor position at Abington Art Center- a Cultural Makerspace?
Abington Art Center is currently seeking Youth Art Instructors for our Spring Session and Summer Camp! We have an immediate need for Saturday morning instructors for Painting, Drawing and Comics/Illustration. For our Summer Camps we are in need of general art instructors as well as Ceramics and Comics and Illustration instructors.
Our teachers range from professional Teaching Artists sharing their skills to Certified Art Instructors. Applicants are required to have experience working with students aged 4-6, 7-9, 9-12 or 13-15. We offer small class sizes in a fun creative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement art lesson plans for our Youth Weekly Art Classes or Summer Camp
- Teach students various art techniques, including drawing, painting, and sculpture
- Provide guidance and feedback to students to help them improve their artistic skills
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters creativity and self-expression
Experience:
-High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or a related field preferred
- Previous experience teaching art to grade school aged students
- Strong knowledge of various art techniques and mediums
- Ability to effectively communicate and engage with students
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
-PA Clearances Required
