With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the RN First Assist functions as a member of the intraoperative healthcare team. First assisting responsibilities are further refinements of perioperative nursing practice and are executed within the context of the nursing process. These responsibilities include certain delegated medical functions that can be assumed by the RN who is qualified to practice as an RNFA.Job Description
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; BSN or completion of BSN or appropriate advanced degree within 3 years of hire strongly preferred.
- Graduate of a CAAHEP (ARC/STSA) accredited school of Surgical Assisting required.
AND
Experience:
One year of surgical assisting experience preferred.
Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:
BLS and ACLS required based on organizational guidelines/polices. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice. CNOR
