What you will be doing.
As our Naval Architect, you will work within a multi-discipline maritime team primarily delivering expert advice and consulting services to various insurance, legal, and our clients
ABL USA Inc. has an opening in Houston, TX) Naval Architect : Prepare design and structural analyses, concepts, and details for various fixed / floating offshore structures in accordance with international codes and standards. Conduct calculations for design and plan appraisal purposes. Conduct weight and stability analyses, including development of weight and center of gravity estimates, intact and damaged stability analyses, deadweight surveys, and inclining experiments. Conduct hydrostatic and hydrodynamic analyses of floating offshore structures and vessels. Conduct concept and feasibility design studies addressing whole ship sizing and performance analyses, requirements validation, and design optimization. Participate in design reviews, audits, and naval architectural-related reviews. Evaluate and prepare concept selection reports and basis for design. Review and edit technical manuals and drawings. Ensure projects meet client requirements and classification rules and regulations. Responsible for overall delivery of optimum solutions to customers within the timeframe, costs, and health / safety / environmental standards, and in accordance with the quality standards established by ABL group and / or client
What is required
Requires master's degree in Naval Architecture or related field and 2 years of experience. 2 years must include experience with : (1) hydrostatic and hydrodynamic analysis of marine and / or offshore structures; (2) structural and FEA analysis of marine and / or offshore structures; (3) application of international marine industry standards and codes; and (4) use of classification societies and their design requirements. Any knowledge is required in the following : AutoCAD, Rhino, Maxsurf package, GHS, and Ansys.
