What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Representative position at ABM Equipment?
Account Executive for the food, beer, spirits, chemical, plastics, and battery industries supplying automation solutions (equipment and full plants).Will start by calling on past customers who have not been in contact or purchased products in the last 2 years. When they communicate need, you will pass it off to experienced salespeople/engineers who will take the lead, and you will learn the ropes. You will then move on to past leads and potential customers. Will occasionally require travel for customer visits and trade shows.Once you are competent/comfortable with the subject matter, travel will increase as you visit job sites and attend trade shows (you will do the smaller shows solo). Travel will become considerable.What the job will be likeThis is a company owned by two industry-famous salesmen who like to sell, not manage. It is run by them and a group of other people who also like to do their jobs—not to manage. If you are self-driven and interested in this industry, there is nowhere better to be. If you get stuck in ruts where you have a hard time putting in 8 hours a day, you will waste your time here. We do not pressure customers and don't want you to, but we want you to develop relationships where you can. Most material will be self-taught, but everyone will answer any question you have.Tasks/Duties:
- Start and eventually close sales with new and existing accounts.
- Actively develop knowledge on ever-changing products.
- Develop new business by interacting with customers.
- Maintain good working relationships with vendors and participate in joint sales calls.
- Documentation of daily calls is required.
- Follow procedures with the customer management system and keep it current.
- Maintain a high level of customer service, professionalism, and integrity.
Qualifications:
- Open/forthright and mid-extroverted personality (must like talking to people)
- Current driver's license and a clean driving record
- 1 years of outside sales experience

- Self-starting predisposition, not easily affected by rejection
- General understanding of business software, including Outlook, Excel, & Word
- Strong "how can I help" approach rather than "how I can sell/get" approach
- Must be interested in this industry
Education:High school diploma or GED; bachelor's degree a plusCompensationCompensation based on experience and knowledge of industry. May choose between full commission or base/commission. Bases range from 40-80k, usually 60. Commissions range from 1 to 5% of the sale, depending on your involvement in it.
