Job Overview:
The Commercial Loan Processor is responsible for all administrative functions of the Business Services department. Coordinates business related activities with members and staff. Works closely with outside contacts (attorneys, title companies, appraisers etc.) to ensure timely and quality pre- and post-closing activities for all loan closings. Provides high quality and professional service to members and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the review and completion of all due diligence associated with the commercial loan documentation/closing process. Pipeline management, satisfaction of approval conditions prior to the preparation of commercial loan documentation, and controlling the disbursement of new loan proceeds by originating loan documents or auditing and reviewing attorney prepared documents to ensure adherence to loan approval requirements. Monitors and enforces post closing
exception items and works closely with members and attorneys to manage the loan closing process. - Provides service and support to business members and prospective clients seeking commercial loans. Works closely with the Business Services Manager and coordinates all marketing related activities for Business Services.
- Maintains a solid foundation in all areas of commercial loan documentation, keeping updated on changing legal situations, industry trends, and product specific issues. Demonstrate and applies knowledge of diverse commercial loan documentation, legal requirements, credit union policies, state and federal laws and regulations and applies such knowledge.
- Establishes and maintains effective communication, coordination, education, and working relations with credit union personnel and management. Coordinates activities with branches and related departments and conveys information as needed. Keeps management informed of key department activities as well as successes and/or significant problems. Attends and participates in meetings as required.
- Prepares various reports as requested by management. Assists with projects within the department as needed as well as cross trains in other functions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
- One year to three years of similar or related experience.
- Education: A high school education or GED.
- Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
- Other Skills: Ability to independently plan, prioritize, and carry out simultaneous projects and meet deadlines.
- Organizational skills and a strong attention to detail is required.
- Familiarity with commercial loan documentation and previous commercial banking experience is preferred; particularly in commercial lending.
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite products (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint).
- Possess written and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with business members, employees, and prospective clients both in person and by phone.
- Strong analytical skills for reviewing and analyzing loan documents.
- Problem solving skills that allow development of solutions to technically complex problems and elimination of causes.
- Physical qualifications include sitting at a workstation for extended periods of time and being able to lift/carry up to 10 pounds.
