Abode, one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a Food Resource Coordinator for our Bay Area Furniture Bank program in Santa Clara County.
About the role: The Food Resource Coordinator oversees the management of food resources for site-based Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) programs. This role involves maintaining partnerships with external providers such as Second Harvest and Martha’s Kitchen, ensuring compliance with food storage regulations, coordinating food deliveries to various sites, and completing necessary reporting.

How You Make an Impact:
- Develop and nurture effective relationships with external food providers to ensure seamless collaboration and resource sharing.
- Forge new partnerships to address food insecurity and establish comprehensive food services across all housing locations.
- Ensure compliance with food storage and usage standards set by external providers at each site.
- Coordinate and manage food pickup schedules with site staff, utilizing the agency van for transportation as needed.
- Oversee data quality control and reporting for the food service program, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Uphold high standards of professional conduct and maintain a professional image.
- Participate in external meetings and training sessions related to the safety and wellbeing of the food service program.
- Contribute as a cooperative team member and perform other duties as assigned.
How You Meet Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- 2 years of previous experience in resource coordination, community outreach or related roles.
- 2 years of experience working with people facing homelessness, substance abuse issues, and individuals in the criminal justice system.
- Use of personal vehicle, proof of valid California Driver's License, current auto insurance.
- Flexible schedule to work evening and weekend hours when required.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with teams, with little supervision.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working with homeless, low-income, or other related social services.
- Previous experience or training in kitchen/meal service and janitorial services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, systems, and platforms.
- Ability to learn and use required mobile devices and business-related applications.
- Outstanding communication skills and high degree of emotional intelligence, cultural humility, with a proven track record to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
