Abode, one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a HRIS Specialist for our Human Resources team.

About The Role: The Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Specialist provides HRIS system project support to the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Manager. The HRIS Specialist will maintain the HRIS system, troubleshoot and resolve data issues, and provide user support and training.

How You Make An Impact:

HRIS Support

  • Provides back up support to the HRIS manager. 
  • Maintains Abode HRIS systems and serves as a resource for all HRIS-related items.
  • Supports various system projects to automate and integrate the HRIS.
  • Assists in the review, testing and implementation of HRIS upgrades. 
  • Collaborates with functional and technical staff to coordinate application of upgrades or fixes.

Data & Reporting

  • Maintains the accuracy and integrity of employee data in the HRIS database. 
  • Creates data reports and analysis as requested.
  • Implements mass data systems changes and troubleshooting.
  • Supports data entry and system audits as needed.

Quality Improvement

  • Recommends process improvements, innovative solutions, and supports quality improvement projects.
  • Conducts training and provides job aids for all new and existing employees on new HRIS system processes/functionality.
  • Stays up to date with HRIS system changes and updates. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

How You Meet Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • 2-4 years’ of demonstrated experience with HRIS systems and implementation. 
  • Use of personal vehicle and proof of valid California Driver's License and current auto insurance, along with a clean DMV record, is required.

  • Excellent verbal & written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementation, systems management, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with qualitative/quantitative measurement and data collection.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Cultural competency and the ability to work effectively with a diverse employee workforce.
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with teams.
  • Ability to learn and use required mobile devices and business-related applications.
  • Outstanding communication skills and high degree of emotional intelligence, cultural humility, with a proven track record to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
