Job Summary:
The Business Development & Proposal Specialist is responsible for supporting efforts to grow the firm by assisting in the preparation of proposals, the creation and preparation of reports on business development activities, client acquisition opportunities and performance and contributing to the overall development of strategies to expand the firm’s client base and market presence. The Business Development & Proposal Specialist will work closely with the business development team and project managers.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing proposals, bids, and responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), ensuring compliance with client specifications and requirements.
- Collaborate with technical staff to ensure the content of proposals accurately reflects the firm’s capabilities and aligns with client needs.
- Coordinate with internal teams to gather necessary information and input for proposals, including pricing, project timelines, and scope of work.
- Assist in market analysis and report on trends, client needs, and competitor activities to inform business development strategies.
- Support the development of presentations needed for conferences.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other internal teams to understand the company’s technical capabilities and past project experience.
- Assist with internal meetings and strategy sessions to discuss market trends, potential business opportunities, and ongoing pursuits.
- Help prepare reports on business development activities, performance, and market opportunities for senior management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or a related field.

- 3 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing within the engineering, construction, or related industries.
- Familiarity with the proposal writing process and an understanding of RFPs/RFQs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with content creation in preparing professional proposals, presentations, and emails.
- Familiarity and comfortable utilizing AI as a source for proposal and presentation creation.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
