Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life. You will work closely with clients in a family home or independent living setting, ensuring their safety and well-being while promoting independence.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
- Monitor and document patient observations, reporting any changes in behavior or health status to the appropriate personnel.
- Provide support in social and recreational activities, encouraging engagement and interaction within the community.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining confidentiality of client information.
- Administer first aid and CPR as necessary, responding promptly to any medical emergencies. Must be willing to take CPR and First Aid training.
- Foster positive relationships with clients, promoting dignity and respect in all interactions.
- DSP must be available to work 2 - 3 days a week and every other Saturday & Sunday.
- DSP must have auto insurance in their own name.
- This placement is in Lancaster.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of assisted living practices and group home operations is beneficial.
- Familiarity with care plans and patient observation techniques is essential.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; training may be provided for qualified candidates.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective collaboration with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
