Reporting to the Head of Accounting, the Accountant is an essential member of the Accounting & Finance team at Above Lending. This position has primary responsibility for all elements of the accounting process, from confirming transactions are properly recorded to ensuring that our financial statements clearly tell the story of our financial results. This role requires a solid foundation in U.S. GAAP and a passion for financial operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have the ability to thrive in an environment of rapid change; work urgently and effectively within cross-functional teams; clearly communicate complex financial information to individuals across various departments; be highly resourceful; and deliver under tight deadlines.
- Perform month-end close tasks from preparation of journal entries to financial statements review and analysis to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded
- Prepare bank and general ledger account reconciliations
- Own account payable and expenses process on Ramp
- Ensure relevant internal controls are in place for the accounting and finance operations
- Identify process improvements and assist in the implementation of relevant process change, policies and procedures to enhance the existing control environment
- Utilize a robust understanding of accounting standards, including accounting research as needed, to ensure compliance with US GAAP
- Assist with preparation and filings of federal and state tax returns
- Support internal and external audits in timely resolution of audit requests and questionsOther ad hoc duties as assigned
- Bachelor in Accounting, Finance or other related discipline
- 2 – 3 years’ experience in accounting and finance operations
- Proficient in Excel
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism
- Capable of taking initiative, working independently, and focusing on improving processes and finding the best solutions
- Prior audit (Big 4) experience and CPA license a plus
- NetSuite and Ramp experience preferred
- Snowflake or SQL experience is a plus
