The Payroll Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent numerical skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a payroll team.
Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing: Assist in processing biweekly or monthly payroll for employees, including data entry, timekeeping, and calculation of wages and deductions.
- Data Maintenance: Maintain accurate employee records, including changes in salary, benefits, tax withholding, and personal information.
- Verification: Verify timekeeping records and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to hours worked.
- Reporting: Generate payroll reports as needed, including year-end reports such as W-2s.
- Communication: Address employee inquiries related to payroll, taxes, and deductions promptly and professionally.
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized and secure payroll records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Compliance: Stay current with federal and state payroll laws and regulations to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in payroll processing or a similar role is a plus, but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
