Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- The general purpose of the CNC Machine Operator is to operate computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal work pieces.
- Maintaining safe work habits and a work area abiding by all safety policies.
- Lift and load work pieces into the machine.
- Activate manual part clamps to secure work pieces. Using control mechanisms to operate machines or processes (not including vehicles).
- Stop the machine to remove finished work pieces. Stack or load finished items.
- Ability to review blueprints to determine finished work piece dimensions.
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring in strumpets, templates, and fixtures.
- Maintaining Quality Control by using the following tools: Digital calipers, deburring tools, Go or No Go blocks or gauges.
- Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources and providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates.
- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem such as checking to ensure that work pieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation or recognizing that there may be something not operating properly.
- Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or production errors or to obtain approval to continue production.
- Clean machines, tooling, or parts, using solvents or solutions, water, and rags.
- Performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.
- Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and l00's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Physical Demands refers to the level and/or duration of physical exertion generally required to perform occupational takes (sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls. Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body. The employee if regularly required to reach with hands and arms. On occasion the incumbent may be required to walk, stop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
- The employee must frequently lift up to 10 pounds, regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to working near moving mechanical parts.
- The noise level in typically loud in this work environment. Hearing protection is required.
- Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
