Job Description
The Senior Consultant II – Technical Engagement Manager will serve as a key advisor and pre-sales consultant, working with customers to design, propose, and validate cybersecurity solutions for industrial control systems (ICS). This role bridges technical capabilities and business needs, helping clients understand and implement best-in-class OT security solutions, IT/OT convergence strategies, and compliance frameworks. Reporting to the Technical Director, this position requires a balance of technical hands-on expertise, customer engagement, and pre-sales solution development to drive adoption of cybersecurity solutions in energy, oil & gas, and maritime industries.

What You Will Do:
- Provide technical expertise on project tasks to ensure quality services are delivered on schedule and within available budget to meet customer requirements and provide frequent updates to the project manager
- Assist project manager with defining and sequencing project tasks, estimating task duration and developing a project schedule as part of developing a project management plan
- Lead proof-of-concept (PoC) engagements and pilot deployments, showcasing OT security solution capabilities in customer environments
- Architect secure industrial networks and cybersecurity controls, ensuring compliance with NIST 800-82, IEC 62443, and industry best practices
- Advise on IT/OT integration projects, facilitating secure and efficient data exchange between enterprise and operational environments
- Support product positioning and competitive differentiation, demonstrating technical expertise in customer meetings
- Review project management plans to understand the scope, schedule and assigned work authorization
- Plan and schedule client meetings
- Participate in client and project team meetings
- Assist with research and data analysis, including assisting with conducting customer or stakeholder analyses.
- Prepare and deliver written documents, reports, technical presentations and demonstrations, articulating cybersecurity best practices, risk mitigation strategies, and solution benefits
- Develop technical documentation, including security solution architectures, implementation guides, and best practices
- Track and report hours spent executing projects
- Work with individuals at all levels, provide input to reports and other deliverables, execute multiple assignments, meet agreed deadlines, and adjust to changing client demands
- Perform quality assurance on project deliverables
- Develop relationships with existing customers to facilitate development of new business opportunities for current and/or additional services.
- Learn, understand and be conversant in ABS Group products and services
- Meet with new and existing clients and actively listen to their needs
- Work closely with sales teams, contributing to RFPs, RFIs, and technical proposal development
- Engage with customers during the pre-sales process, understanding their security needs and designing tailored OT cybersecurity solutions
- Collaborate with operations and lab teams, providing feedback on customer requirements and emerging industry trends
- Communicate client needs to project managers and supervisors
- Review published reports and news articles about existing and potential new clients to identify customer intelligence
- Participate in proposal development, including writing proposals
- Represent ABS Group and participate in promoting our products and services
- Participate in marketing activities, conference presentations, technical whitepapers
- Networking to meet new potential clients
Education and Experience
- Must have a bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5 years of relevant professional experience in OT cybersecurity, ICS security, or IT/OT pre-sales solution architecture
- Hands-on experience with SCADA, DCS, PCN, and industrial networking security.
- Experience working on IT/OT convergence projects, network segmentation, and cybersecurity assessments.
- Experience with cybersecurity product evaluations and competitive positioning.
- Ability to gain, retain, comprehend, and transfer knowledge to other members of the team.
- Ability to mentor/coach entry-level consultants and hone technical skills in others.
- Ability to actively listen to the needs of our clients by receiving shared information and determine context of the information provided and generating probing questions to better understand, retaining the information for future access, engaging and collaborating with sales team on potential opportunities, and responding with solutions.
- Develops a firm understanding of cybersecurity business, including but not limited to product evaluations and competitive positioning, and implements opportunities for enhancing effectiveness and efficiencies across the organization.
- Strong knowledge of OT security frameworks (NIST 800-82, IEC 62443) and industrial networking protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, MQTT).
- Familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint security, and SIEM solutions for industrial environments.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, bridging cybersecurity and business value.
- Openly accepts change is part business evolution to meet the needs of our clients, provides recommendations to enhance business, and drives change across the department.
- Understands key performance indicators and their significance to the business. Takes action to drive results amongst their department.
- Ability to utilize established rapport and role as a subject matter expert with existing clients to facilitate development of new business.
- Must understand departmental goals and holds self and team members accountable for keeping commitments and high standards. Uses Root Cause Analysis to improve performance.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills for pre-sales and customer engagements.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% for customer meetings, conferences, and PoCs.
- Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System
