General Description
This position will require leadership, organizational skills, program development experience, and knowledge of community development, and substance abuse prevention. The Grant Coordinator will conduct substance abuse prevention specifically, focused on underage drinking, non-medical use of prescription drugs and promote mental health among Native American youth ages 9-20. The Grant Coordinator will provide guidance and leadership, monitor grant related activities, and assist with data collection.
Responsibilities & Duties
The coordinator will handle the prevention and educational efforts, outreach activities and events under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Ensuring Hope Grant.
Conduct community assessments for data collection and documentation through surveys, listening sessions, and observation.
Coordinate, conduct, and evaluate evidence-based and culturally competent prevention activities and community outreach.
Explore local prevention resources and develop community resource guide.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders and coalition members
Provides training/education to local coalition and key stakeholders.
Assist when needed in preparation of grant reports as required by funding agency.
Have an understanding of Tribal communities both traditional and non-traditional.
Have an understanding of Two-Spirit communities.
Act as a liaison and resource to the tribal communities, organizations, and partnerships.
Coordinate the development, production, ordering, and dissemination of educational materials and promotional items.
Must adhere to Absentee Shawnee Tribe Personnel Policies, Drug, and Alcohol Policies.
Assure that confidentiality and participate protection procedures for at risk populations.
Must be available to work weekends and evenings
Travel to meet grant requirements and attend all related meetings and trainings.
Other duties assigned by the SPF-PFS Project Director.
Qualifications
Education and Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Social work or two-year experience in public health, social work, or community-based projects, bachelors preferred.
Demonstrates proficiency in public speaking, group facilitation, training, and prevention program development.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills; be able to express ideas and facts clearly and concisely in written/oral form.
Excellent people skills and experience working with community coalitions, tribal communities preferred.
Proficiency in grants management, public speaking, group facilitation, training, prevention program development, prevention evaluation, strategic planning, program implementation, and data compilation. SAMSHA grant experience preferred.
Must be able to work with culturally diverse populations.
Must be willing to take and continue cultural competency training.
Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Required to have an OSBI clearance, must not have convictions.
Must possess a valid Oklahoma State Driver’s License.
Prompt and daily attendance is of utmost importance; failure to be on the job not only disrupts the smooth functioning of the employee’s own job, but also inconveniences the other interrelated jobs.
