What You’ll Do
As a Total Station Operator, you’ll be responsible for survey and layout functions on active construction sites. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Performing general survey and layout work across project sites
- Independently operating Robotic Station equipment
- Establishing and maintaining horizontal and vertical control
- Executing construction staking for foundations, concrete embeds, walls, grids, and civil elements
- Verifying as-built conditions using survey techniques
- Supporting field staff with accurate control lines and elevations
- Reviewing construction plans and identifying potential field issues
- Collaborating with the VDC department to interpret CAD/BIM drawings
- Promoting a safe and injury-free jobsite environment
- Fostering strong relationships with internal and external clients
We're looking for someone who thrives in a hands-on, technical environment and brings a problem-solving mindset to the field. You’ll succeed in this role if you bring the following:
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit
- Experience with survey data collection, GPS receivers, and robotic total stations
- Strong mathematical skills and understanding of surveying calculations
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
- Self-motivated with a high attention to detail
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Dependability and physical ability to work in outdoor conditions year-round
- A collaborative and team-oriented approach
- Commitment to meeting project deadlines and adapting in a fast-paced environment
- High school diploma or GED required
- AutoCAD / BIM 3D modeling experience preferred
- Solid technical knowledge of construction
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, and reach regularly
- Must be able to lift up to 40lbs
- Comfortable navigating construction sites in all weather
- Must comply with safety regulations on-site and in-office
