Quality Control Manager

Job Overview

The Project Quality Control Manager is responsible for developing, planning, implementing, managing, and monitoring the quality control program and related on a project.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, execute, and oversee the successful execution of a project-specific QC program covering all division of work from notice of award through final completion.
  • Work within a project team in early identification of and resolution of potential and actual quality concerns. Troubleshoot and problem solve as required with consideration to project constraints such as time, budget, and safety.
  • Interpret construction documents and industry codes and standards in order to prepare Quality Control Project Plans, including Definable Features of Work, inspection requirements, and testing plan. Prepare and execute scope-specific inspection checklists associated with this Plan.
  • Provide oversight to QAQC activities performed Subcontractors, Special Inspection Services, and Others.
  • Lead and / or constructively participate in related site meetings; such as 3D model coordination, preparatory meetings, pull planning sessions, and commissioning meetings.
  • Mentor project team members in execution of QAQC-related tasks.
  • Engage directly with the Project team, owner, subcontractors, and all other project stakeholders to ensure the Quality program and initiatives are achieved.
  • Manage, review, and document RFIs, submittals, safety plans, and material procurement for all divisions of work.
  • May on occasion for temporary periods supplement or act as the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
  • Actively participate, and at times temporarily lead, site safety activities such as audits, orientations, and incident investigations.

Why You'll Be Successful

  • A graduate of a four year accredited college or university program in electrical engineering and / or construction management OR
  • 10 years minimum commercial construction experience on high and medium voltage electrical substations, underground electrical infrastructure projects, or similarly complex projects working as a Project Superintendent, QC Manager, Project Manager, Design Manager, Project Engineer, or Construction Manager, to include :
  • 2 years minimum experience as a QC Manager for NAVFAC, ACOE, or similar governmental organizations.

  • Familiarity with the requirements of EM 385-1-1, and have experience in the areas of hazard identification, safety compliance, and sustainability for deep underground electrical infrastructure, civil geotechnical construction, and commercial vertical construction.
  • Ability to obtain or currently in possession of a Quality Control Manager (QCM) certification from Army Corps of Engineers
  • Ability to be named Quality Control Manager on federal construction projects; including the ability to pass federal background checks associated with working in limited area, restricted access, and secure military locations. Some contracts require American citizenship to work in Controlled Access Areas (CIA).
  • High initiative, integrity, and team role player.
  • Competent usage of mobile and tablet software common to commercial construction.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, push, pull, utilize computer and office equipment, similar. with or without accommodation for extended periods of times throughout each work day.
  • Ability to independently commute to / from jobsite location up to two hours and / or 60 miles away from home.

    The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $150,000 with the average starting salary in the 40th percentile range; commensurate with experience and training. This ensures we get you properly seated within our organization so that all parties feel good about our future together.
