What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic II position at Absolute Group?
A Mechanic II for Absolute Group will provide specialized mechanical skills in the ongoing maintenance and repair of heavy construction equipment, semi-truck and trailers, trucks, and construction vehicles.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Performs various repairs, including complete overhauls, preventive maintenance, and routine preventative maintenance.
- Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
- Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
- Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
- Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
- Performs further tests, which may include test driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
- Provides consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to vehicle and equipment users.
- Accurately maintains mechanic logs.
- Communicate with teams, vendors, and shop manager for parts ordering.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of proven mechanic experience required.
- Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical, and other systems and their components.
- Class A CDL (or expected to acquire within 90 days of hire) and clear driving record.
- Master technician certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence preferred
Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair.
- Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.

- Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
- Proven ability to provide internal and external customer service.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Ability to always remain alert.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work may be stressful due to continual interaction with others, long hours required and the nature of the construction environment. Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this role including working safely in a noisy repair shop with odors present, good vision to inspect vehicles to determine repairs needed, prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, sitting, stretching, stooping, twisting, lying, and reaching. Lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
