What are the responsibilities and job description for the Skilled Laborer position at Absolute Group?
We are looking to hire Skilled Laborers to join our Erosion Control Division located in Urbana IA. The ideal candidates will have a basic understanding of agricultural labor, but every candidate must have a willingness to learn. Daily responsibilities for a Laborer include installing silt fence, hydro-seeding, matting, tree planting, and grading. Previous farm, agriculture, and/or landscape experience preferred but not required.
These positions are Full-time. Average work week is 40 - 50 hours per week with peak season is March through December depending on weather.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to show up to work on time
- Ability to adapt to a variety of different labor assignments
- Willingness to learn new skills and have a positive attitude
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions
- Physical strength and stamina to perform tasks with hands and lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day
- Adhere to all safety policies and precautions; wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability to take guidance and direction from supervisor.

Physical surroundings: Municipal, commercial and residential construction sites. Adverse working environment. Work may be stressful due to continual interaction with others, long hours required and nature of the construction environment.
Physical Effort: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this role including prolonged walking, bending, standing, stooping and reaching. Repetitive lifting up to 75 pounds.
Local Travel: Occasional, mostly within the eastern Iowa region

Erosion Control is a Division within Absolute Group that specializes in commercial and state erosion and soil control services. The Erosion Control Division offers a wide range of agricultural construction solutions, including seeding, sodding, mulching, silt fence installation and storm water pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) management.
