Qualifications of Medical Lab Technician:
- Certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
- Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist through the American Society of Clinical Pathology or American Medical Technologist
- Six months of practical experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist
Work Details for Medical Lab Technician:
- Location: Fort Worth, TX
- Status: Contract
- Shift: Monday to Friday 7:00am to 2:30pm
Key Duties of Medical Lab Technician: #IND
- Perform basic blood draws for staff and inmates, spin down blood, prepare and package specimens for shipping, and deliver subject shipping containers to the front gate for shipment
- Draw blood open, semi-open and locked units
- Keep the work area neatly organized
- Maintain the needle/syringe inventory
- Document lab request logs
- Complete related paperwork and filing
- Conduct routine equipment checks
- Collect data relating to laboratory efforts (usage, types of labs studies, prompt receipt of orders and timely return of results by our contract labs, etc.)
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory analysis
- Report test results and consult with supervisory laboratory staff on additional testing as needed.
- Effectively work with both staff and inmates in the performance of contract services

The contractor must be able to adapt to newly established policies and guidelines (i.e. Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO), Bureau of Prisons (BOP), American Correctional Association (ACA), etc.) to the existing Medical Laboratory Technologist program, as applicable, and help provide support to implement procedures accordingly.
