We are a rapidly growing craft ice manufacturer specializing in large-scale, efficient crystal clear craft ice manufacturing. We started in Northern California in 2020 and have been expanding sales nationally to high-end bars, restaurants, retail customers, events, and venues nationwide. Our focus is on safety, quality innovation, and sustainability, ensuring our products enhance our customers' drinking experience. We are seeking a Plant Manager to join our team to run our existing production facility in Petaluma, CA.
The Role
You will be a key member of our operations team, reporting to the SVP of Operations, and be responsible for manufacturing and producing our artisanal ice products. You will manage the plant operations of the Petaluma facility, managing a team, optimizing processes, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a background in food and beverage production, operational excellence, and team development. A key part of this role will be building the operations team and creating a high-performing work environment through production reporting, KPIs, communication, and, most importantly, a culture centered around safety.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required with a bachelors degree in a relevant field preferred but not required with sufficient experience.
- Must have 5-10 years of previous experience in a manufacturing environment in a supervisory role, preferably food and beverage.
- Experience with safety best practices, including Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO), safe handling of chemicals, etc.
- Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and other relevant quality standards.
- Experience managing production schedules to meet orders, assign daily work tasks, run shift meetings, and communicate changes with the production team.
- Past Experience with shift / production reporting, safety procedures, quality control standards, SOPs, etc.
- Any experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement is preferable.
- Ability to do whatever it takes to ensure safe, high quality, and efficient ice production.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily production activities to meet quality, quantity, and delivery goals.
- Develop and implement production schedules, monitoring progress to ensure timelines are met.
- Oversee equipment maintenance and ensure minimal downtime through proactive strategies.
- Quality Assurance
- Monitor production processes to identify and resolve quality issues promptly.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to implement and refine quality control procedures.
- Leadership & Team Development
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement among employees.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and implement development plans.
- Safety & Compliance
- Develop and enforce safety protocols and training programs to mitigate workplace hazards.
- Maintain detailed records of safety incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Process Improvement & Cost Management
- Manage budgets for labor, materials, and equipment, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular reports for senior management.

- Role requires walking, standing, and / or driving at times
- Ability to reach, kneel, stoop, climb, walk, push, pull, lift & lower weight of up to 50 pounds.
- Must be comfortable working in refrigerated and freezing conditions for prolonged periods of time as required for the ice-making process.
- Must adapt to a flexible work schedule, including overtime, holiday work, and weekends, as required for a start-up organization.

Responsibilities
Operational Management
Maintain high product quality standards by strictly adhering to company protocols and industry regulations.
Recruit, train, and develop plant staff to build a cohesive and high-performing team.
Ensure the plant operates in full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations set by Abstract Ice, OSHA, and the FDA.
Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization and waste reduction.
