What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Touring for a Well-Known Comedian position at Abstraction Media?
About Us
Abstraction Media, Inc. is a multi-faceted production house located in West Hollywood, CA, specializing in original and forward-thinking content for stage, film, and television. We manage large-scale live productions, including international tours for world-renowned comedians.
Position Overview
A well-known Comedian is seeking a high-level touring executive to take full ownership of his touring operations, negotiations, and logistics. This is not a task-based role—this is for a master tour strategist who can negotiate at the highest level, cultivate key relationships, and execute flawless live events.
The Director of Touring & Live Events will lead all aspects of domestic and international tours, ensuring Max can focus on his craft while the business side of the tour runs smoothly and profitably.
This position requires extensive touring experience in live entertainment, exceptional negotiation skills, a keen ability to assess and leverage relationships strategically, and the grace and presence to engage with executives, promoters, venues, and vendors at the highest level.
If you are a seasoned expert in tour management, deal-making, and operational excellence—and you know how to lead a world-class touring team while keeping a comedian on the road with zero stress—this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Tour Strategy & Execution – Architect and execute comprehensive, high-level touring strategies that maximize ticket sales, profitability, and efficiency.
- Master Negotiation & Deal Structuring – Handle all venue, promoter, vendor, and subcontractor negotiations, ensuring favorable contract terms and optimal financial outcomes.
- Relationship Management & Industry Cultivation – Build and nurture strategic relationships with venue owners, promoters, booking agents, production vendors, and key industry players to strengthen future touring success.
- Tour Logistics & Operations Oversight – Oversee travel, accommodation, transportation, scheduling, security, and compliance with local regulations to ensure seamless show execution.
- Financial & Budget Management – Develop and manage tour budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost efficiency without compromising quality.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Management – Oversee sound, lighting, production, ticketing, and marketing teams, ensuring contracts align with the tour’s goals and that all vendors meet top-tier production standards.
- Team Leadership & Communication – Manage the entire touring crew, ensuring they operate efficiently without Max needing to step in. Maintain flawless communication via calls, emails, and in-person meetings.
- Crisis Management & Problem Solving – Proactively anticipate potential issues, devise contingency plans, and handle unforeseen challenges on the fly.
- Confidentiality & Discretion – Handle sensitive contracts, negotiations, and business affairs with the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality.
