What are the responsibilities and job description for the Installation Technician position at ABT Water Management?
TRAVEL THROUGHOUT THE LOWER 48 STATES FOR DAYS TO WEEKS AT A TIME ON A REGULAR BASIS IS REQUIRED.
$16.00-$18.00/hour to start depending on experience plus $30 per diem while on the road. Bump in pay and benefits available after 90 days include: health and dental insurance, paid time off, commission and performance-based bonuses, and simple IRA with 3% match.
1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 The purpose of this task and duty list is to specify the duties of the Water Meter Installer at ABT Water Management, Inc.
2 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
2.1 The Water Meter Installer reports to the Crew Supervisor.
3 REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Must have excellent communication skills to take instructions from the supervisor and communicate with fellow employees. Must be proficient at math to verify job requirements and specifications. Must be able to read and write well enough to read and understand process instructions, work orders, and other paperwork.
3.2 Must be physically capable of loading and unloading material, equipment, and tools from the truck to the customers site. Must be in sound physical condition and able to perform a physically demanding job which requires standing, crawling or squatting during the entire shift. Must be able to lift up to 125 pounds.
3.3 Must have excellent eyesight and depth perception.
3.4 Must have basic mechanical proficiency to troubleshoot project problems.
3.5 A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is highly preferred.
4 WORKING CONDITIONS
4.1 The work is primarily performed at customer sites throughout the United States. These sites are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity and often require work to be done in cramped spaces. Water Meter Installers may need to use a mix of hand and power tools to complete their tasks.
4.2 Water Meter Installers are required to travel to project sites via company truck or flight, both locally and out of state, in all types of weather conditions. The conditions at the site are not in the control of ABT Water Management, Inc.. Water Meter Installers are never required to enter a site that contains hazardous material or conditions.
4.3 When going out of town or out of state for work, Water Meter Installers may be gone anywhere from overnight to as long as a month at a time depending on the size of the project site and its distance from the shop. ABT will provide travel, lodging and per diem when Crew is on the road.
5 TASKS AND DUTIES
5.1 Inspects, installs, and repairs water lines, water meters, radio transponders, and radio receiving equipment at job sites throughout the country.
5.2 Completes work as assigned by the Crew Supervisor. Prioritizes work according to schedule.
5.3 Completes quality work at or below budgeted labor hours.
5.4 Makes routine checks of tools to ensure they are clean and operating correctly.
5.5 Informs Crew Supervisor of any production, installation, material or equipment problems.
5.6 Performs general maintenance on trucks during shift. This includes but is not limited to: checking oil levels, keeping vehicles clean and supplied with needed equipment, parts, and tools.
5.7 Ensures completion of projects so that work can be delivered to meet customer's deadlines.
5.8 Ensures accurate and timely processing and pre-assembly of jobs in shop according to specifications determined by the Project Manager and Crew Supervisor.
5.9 Ensures that supplies are not wasted and that the cost of supplies remains within budgetary guidelines as established by the President.
5.10 Cleans work area daily.
5.11 Acts professionally on the job site during work hours and respectfully in the local community while on the road. Treats the customers as they would the President of ABT and the local establishments they frequest as they would any Company property.
5.12 Assists Crew Supervisor in locating and rushing parts that are due to customers.
5.14 Obeys all safety rules and regulations.
5.15 Obeys all company rules and regulations.
5.16 Performs any other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Crew Supervisor.
6 MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE
The Water Meter Installer's work will be deemed to be acceptable when they:
6.1 Maintain a good working relationship with co-workers.
6.2 Keep rework and callbacks caused by failure to follow process and job specifications to a minimum.
6.3 Satisfy the Crew Supervisor with the quality and quantity of work performed.
6.4 Inform the Crew Supervisor in advance of any absence, late arrival or early departure.
6.5 Keep work areas and the truck neat and clean at the end of each shift.
6.6 Make sure paperwork and reports are up to date and accurate.
6.7 Keep tardiness and absenteeism to less than 3%.
6.8 Keep the Crew Supervisor informed of any potential problems with customers, jobs, or project deadlines.
6.9 Always put safety first.
6.10 Always consider the quality of work before quantity of work.
6.11 Are willing to take charge and make decisions when needed.
