Anticipated weekly hours: Variable, between 24-32 hours per week. Shifts will vary in length, typically between 4-8 hours. This individual selected for this position will need to have flexible availability during the weekdays (preferably evenings) and weekends.

We are pleased to offer a starting hourly pay rate of $17.00 - $18.00 / hour for this role with benefits (Health/Vision/ Dental insurance, employee assistance program, employee discount, paid time off, weekly pay, free coffee & tea, free parking, and more!).

Actual starting pay rate will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, KSAs (knowledge, skills, abilities), market data, etc.

*Please note* Our hours of operation are 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM, seven (7) days a week. The individual selected for this position will need to have flexible evening and weekend availability in addition to being able to be consistently reliable to work scheduled shifts. Please DO NOT apply if you are unable to commit to this. Time off requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Job Summary: To lead an efficiently run Front-End of the store. Maintain the flow of operations, accurate cash handling, and front-end security. Motivate and provide front-end staff with the tools required to ensure the highest level of service possible. This position works under and supports the Front-End Manager and acts as front-end manager on duty in their absence.

Primary Responsibilities:

Customer Service

  • Treat customers fairly, consistently, and with respect so that they are given a reason to return.
  • Ensure efficient and friendly service from front end staff.
  • Ensure front end staff receives proper training.
  • Provide product information and educational materials to customers and staff.

Front End Operations

  • Be present on the Front End when scheduled.
  • Provide prompt service to customers.
  • Follow established procedures to ensure accuracy and security of all cash received through the Front-End including money handling procedures, cashier deposit paperwork, cashier over-short policies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate daily deposits and paperwork.
  • Ensure front end staff are aware of changes in store policies and procedures, including price changes, specials, and new programs.
  • Provide timely back-up when needed on the front end.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and be involved in training for front-end staff
  • Ensure the customer service staff promptly answer the phone and refer calls to the appropriate staff.

Department Operations and Safety

  • Ensure that each departments work areas and aisles are in a clean and orderly condition and meet all Health Department requirements.
  • Ensure proper function and maintenance of cash register equipment. Act as a liaison with POS Team for maintenance and repair. Advise Front End Manager of equipment repair/replacement needs.
  • Ensure front end staff is aware of: how to lift properly, location of accident reports, location of department first aid kits, procedure for handling injured employees or customers.
  • Work with the Front-End Manager to ensure staff training for handling emergencies (shoplifters, robberies, accidents, fire) are scheduled.
  • Assist the Front-End Manager with the development and revision of the department's standard operating procedures as needed and ensure staff is aware of and trained in department procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the General Manager/Front-End Manager.

Personnel

  • Manage front-end team members and ensure they adhere to service standards and company policies at all times.
  • Ensure on-the-job training for all front-end staff. Review and initial the training checklist when employees are trained or retrained.
  • Assist with interviews if needed and train new staff as assigned.
  • Provide effective communication of operational issues.
  • Work with the Front-End Manager to manage event staffing and equipment needs specific to the front-end.
  • Attend management team meetings and weekly huddles.

Café

  • Ensure Café area is clean, and the area is monitored on a regular basis.
  • Ensure Coffee is freshly brewed throughout the day and supplies are restocked.
  • Frequently wipe down the soup area and restock supplies.

Janitorial

  • Stock restrooms and ensure cleanliness of restrooms (wiping down sink, mopping floors, etc.)
  • Clean up spills as needed, place wet floor signs

Schedule and Availability:

  • Schedule is 3-4 shifts weekly consisting of opening, mid, and closing shifts.
  • Evening and weekend shifts highly preferred
  • 24-32 hours per week
  • The individual selected for this position MUST have some weekend availability. Individuals with no weekend availability will not be considered.
  • Schedule is written 1-2 weeks in advance. Shifts are scheduled based upon the incumbent's availability, which will be documented on their first day of work.

Qualifications:

Education: High School/GED

  • 1-3 years retail experience required
  • 1-2 years managing and leading teams highly preferred.
  • Evening and weekend availability highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to plan, develop and implement systems that foster efficient and productive operations.
  • Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.

  • Able to use computer keyboard, monitor, mouse, telephone, and various office equipment continuously.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds frequently.

  • Able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb stairs or ladder.
  • Able to reach above shoulder height occasionally.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
