We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Resident Support Advocate to join our team. In this role, you will help create and maintain a safe and supportive environment for individuals and families in emergency safe housing. You will provide advocacy, crisis intervention, and direct support while ensuring a trauma-informed care approach.
Position: Full-time, 38 hours per week
Reports to: Direct Services Supervisor/Volunteer Coordinator
Qualifications:
- Two or more years of related experience in a human services field, college education, or previous training.
- ARCC counselor/advocate training (provided on site).
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Conflict management skills.
- Strong organizational skills, including record-keeping and office operations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of and concern for victim issues.
- Ability to relate to individuals in a non-judgmental and supportive manner.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Required clearances.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Resident Support Activities:
- Orient new individuals or families entering emergency safe housing and provide ongoing support.
- Assist with resident transitions and complete necessary documentation.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict management when needed.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including incident reports.
- Monitor facility needs, report maintenance issues, and coordinate repairs.
- Ensure residents have access to essential supplies that meet agency standards and cultural needs.
- Maintain cleanliness of office and common areas; oversee resident housekeeping responsibilities.
- Perform laundry, room preparation, and general housekeeping tasks as needed.
- Conduct monthly fire drills in shelter facilities.
Direct Services Provided:
- Advocate for residents and connect them with community resources.
- Offer individual and group counseling, follow-up counseling, and personal advocacy.
- Assist with legal advocacy, emergency financial aid, and victim compensation.
- Provide on-call hotline support to ensure continuity of services.
General Duties:
- Engage in systems advocacy as required.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
