MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE

TITLE: Repair Shop Mechanic PAY PLAN: Hourly

Purpose Of Position

Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Work Performed

• Maintain and repair production lines and associated support equipment used in the manufacturing process.
• Determine the cause of mechanical breakdowns on manufacturing equipment and return equipment to proper operating order in minimum time.
• Completely assemble or disassemble production lines or support equipment as required for repairs or installations.
• Rebuild Rotary Unions, Hoists, Blowers, Air Pumps, Gear Boxes, Hot Knives, Motors, Pumps
• Make all necessary mechanical and basic electrical adjustments to production lines or support equipment to insure proper operation.
• Maintain required maintenance logs, time sheets, blueprints on other documents used in performing maintenance functions
• Order spare parts, replacement parts and other materials required through group leader, stockroom, or supervisor.
• Effectively and safely use a wide variety of common hand tools and all shop machines (including welders).
• Perform all tasks within established safety and maintenance procedures and maintain cleanliness and condition of tools used, shop floor, and production line areas worked.
• Enter in all work through CMMS system and complete all assignments as directed by supervisor. Communicate to supervisor and update on all repairs to production associates.
• Have basic knowledge and understanding in at least 3 out of the 4 areas of the plant. (Press, Bag, Extrusion and Utilities)
• Communicate with Specialists, Planner and or Technical Manager regarding on-going issues with ability to provide resolution with proper documentation and root cause analysis.
• Complete all required safety work orders and report to manager upon completion
• Follow all safety guidelines set forth by department and plant.
• Assist in Stock Room.
• Responsible for Housekeeping/6S for the whole facility department.
• Building 40 inspections.
  
  

Requirements Of Position

• 10 years industrial maintenance experience
• Able to read blueprints, specifications and building plans.
• Able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds.
• Must have good theoretical and applied understanding of mechanical and electrical theory, production line control, instrumentation and the manufacturing process.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision or in a team environment. Able to organize time effectively.
• Able to work effectively with co-workers in a team environment.
• Able to work overtime as required.
• Requires attention to detail.
• Capable of, and commit to follow the plant and departmental safety procedures, food safety guidelines and ISO procedure
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Good mathematical skills.
• Continuous learning will be expected
• Able to work overtime as required
