What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barback position at Abyss?
Abyss, a new premier fine dining restaurant, located in Downtown Greenville is seeking an experienced barback to join our dedicated team! We are a locally owned restaurant group that focuses on providing fine dining service with fresh quality food. At Abyss, you will have the opportunity to help craft memorable experiences for our guests, work with professional and friendly staff, and learn new skills in a dynamic and elegant environment.
Core Responsibilities
Are you passionate about creating exquisite cocktails and providing exceptional service in a sophisticated setting? The Barback is responsible for providing general support to the bar team as needed. The Barback must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be able to multitask effectively and provide great customer service.
- Keep track of stock levels and communicate with bartenders regarding low inventory
- Provide general support to the bar team as needed, including restocking, making drinks, running food, communicating with team members in other areas of the restaurant, filling ice wells, and preparing garnishes.
- Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and alcohol control policies
- Maintain knowledge of bar menu to assist with customer inquiries
- Maintain a clean and elegantly organized bar area
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless and refined service
- Participate in daily staff training
- Clean glasses and bar utensils
- Ensure proper storage and handling of all bar supplies and equipment
- Prepare cocktail ingredients and fresh juice as needed for service (up to daily)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Preferably 1 year of experience in a restaurant environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask effectively
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Flexibility and availability to work nights and weekends.

- Must have a reliable mode of transportation.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays
