What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host/Hostess position at Abyss?
Abyss, a new premier fine dining restaurant, located in Downtown Greenville is seeking an experienced Host/Hostess to join our dedicated team! We are a locally owned restaurant group that focuses on providing fine dining service with fresh quality food. At Abyss, you will have the opportunity to help craft memorable experiences for our guests, work with professional and friendly staff, and learn new skills in a dynamic and elegant environment.
Core Responsibilities
Are you passionate about creating a memorable experience and providing exceptional service in a sophisticated setting? The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting guests, seating them at tables, and ensuring a positive dining experience. The Host/Hostess must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be able to multitask effectively and provide great customer service.
- Greet guests as they arrive at the restaurant
- Escort guests to their tables and provide menus
- Answer any questions guests may have about the menu or restaurant
- Take reservations and manage the waitlist
- Ensure the dining area is always clean and presentable
- Handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Greet and interact with internal and external guests in a genuinely warm and friendly manner using professional and Kessler standard nomenclature
- Operate the telephone system, answering calls within three (2) rings, using the correct salutation and telephone etiquette
- Maintain the integrity of the guests’ privacy, including confidentiality of personal information and key control
- Coordinate flow of the dining room to ensure prompt and courteous service to patrons
- Contact guests/parties before arrival to confirm reservations
- Complete opening and closing procedures as well as daily side-work
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Preferably 1 year of experience in a restaurant environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask effectively
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Flexibility and availability to work nights and weekends.
- Team Player
- Great Interpersonal skills
- Must have a reliable mode of transportation.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays
