The Buyer I will be responsible for performing multiple tasks within the procurement function in support of client projects and corporate activities. Focus areas include coordination of quotes, issuing purchase orders to suppliers, tracking open orders, and resolution of order issues. Maintains an awareness of available or potential suppliers, reviews and evaluates their operations to validate cost, quality, reliability, and ability to meet schedule and price requirements. Interacts with Project Management, Scheduling, Planning, and Materials Management as well as suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and analyzes daily MRP data for materials, equipment, and services requisitions.
- Issues Purchase Orders (PO) to suppliers through ERP, vendor catalogs, email, and phone.
- Ensures accurate and timely entry of all ERP/purchasing parameters and transactions.
- Communicates order issues (delays, backorders, damage, etc.) with internal customers.
- Acts as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement-related problems.
- Helps identify actual and potential delivery issues. Expedites materials or identifies alternatives, as needed, to meet production and inventory targets and ensuring there are no production shortages.
- Conducts product, price, and lead time research to assist internal stakeholders.
- Supports requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) processes for new spend areas.
- Ensures compliance with purchasing policies, GMP requirements, and ethics guidelines.
- Works with Accounts Payable on supplier invoice issues or discrepancies.
- Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
- Operates to the highest ethical and moral standards.
- Complies with Abzena's policies and procedures.
- Adheres to quality standards set by regulations and Abzena policies, procedures and mission.
- Communicates effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and staff using both written and oral communication.
- Participates effectively as a team player in all aspects of Abzena's business.
- Trains on new technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in procurement.
- 1 year minimum experience.
- Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Understanding of leading ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, JDE, Infor, IFS). IFS preferred.
- Desire to experience working in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility.
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and finish projects and tasks within deadlines.
