Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes and coordinates activities related to agricultural shop operations in assigned geographic areas.
- Provides leadership, training, and guidance to shop personnel while fostering teamwork and a productive work atmosphere.
- Supervises daily operations, manages mechanics and shop personnel, and delegates tasks to ensure maintenance and special projects do not hinder farm operations.
- Provides timely feedback regarding equipment downtime to farm managers and operators.
- Optimizes farm equipment operational time and identify areas for improvement.
- Recommends and implements continuous improvement projects.
- Monitors shop operations, identify risks, and propose mitigation plans.
- Manages all equipment systems and maximizes the effective use of technology.
- Schedules, coordinate, supervise, and monitor all shop and equipment operations.
- Creates budgets, forecast expenses, and ensure shop operations remain within allocated budgets.
- Communicates shop operations and costs to management.
- Ensures operational efficiency is measurable and accountable.
- Mentors and develop personnel on policies, procedures, and safety standards per company regulations.
- Promotes a best-in-class safety program by ensuring compliance with safety training, food safety programs, PPE use, and OSHA regulations.
- Manages inventory of parts and fuel at the farm shop.
- Coordinates with farm teams on equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and installations.
- Assists farm managers with the coordination of equipment movement.
- Maintains maintenance records and scheduling for vehicles and farm equipment.
- Keeps shop facilities and yards clean and organized.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Ensures timecards are reviewed and approved properly.
- Partners with safety to promote a positive safety culture.

- Considerable knowledge in mechanics, maintenance, and repairs.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and proper safety practices.
- Ability to forecast, track results, and analyze financial data to meet budget projections.
- Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues and performing necessary repairs.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Availability of working 55-56 hours per week, including nights and weekends as needed.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to foster teamwork and accountability.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information.
- Adaptability to changing situations and multiple priorities.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- 5 years of farm mechanic experience.
- Mechanic certification a plus.
- Ability to obtain a California Private Applicator Certificate.
- Proficient computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the Company’s insurance carrier.
- Bilingual verbal and written English/Spanish, preferred.
$23 to $28 per hour
