If you want to make a difference in the lives of parents and their children who reside in an out of home placement, join Acenda as a Therapist in our Supportive Visitation Services program serving Atlantic, Burlington and Cape May Counties.
Therapists work as part of a supportive team to help improve parent-child interactions and attachment, address behavioral health needs and empower parents to meet their children’s physical, developmental and emotional needs through regular meaningful visits.
Key Therapist Responsibilities:
- Coordinate visits between parents and resource parents and transport children or parents to and from visits as needed
- Provide comprehensive intake assessments for families that will guide the family’s individualized visit plan.
- Facilitate therapeutic visits in the least restrictive environment, supervising and coaching parent-child interactions.
- Facilitate pre-visit prep discussions, coaching techniques during the visit and post-visit debriefing; helping improve parenting skills and interactions so reunification or permanency can occur
- Empower parents to appropriately manage challenging behaviors in their children.
- Intervene as appropriate to ensure the safety of children during visits and model appropriate interactions between parents and children
- Facilitate collaborative visit planning meetings with visit participants and relevant stakeholders.
- Implement evidence-based services and intervention strategies that align with family’s goals and adjust services accordingly.
- Provide clinical interventions to help stabilize families reunified during our intervention.
- Work collaboratively with peers, DCP&P and other community providers, effectively communicating and problem-solving.
- Complete client documentation, including intake assessments, visitation plans and evaluation tools consistent with program and agency requirements.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling or related field.
- Must have a valid NJ professional license (LSW, LAC, CSW or in process of obtaining licensure)
- Must have a minimum of one year of experience working with children and families, particularly families involved with the child welfare system and/or affected by trauma.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Must have knowledge and ability to use therapeutic approaches.
- Must have experience with crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
Additional Information:
- Salary: $70,000
- Sign on Bonus: $750
- Bilingual Rate: An additional $3,120 bilingual rate added if Spanish proficient
