POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the RN Manager is responsible for overseeing the assessment, coordination, implementation, and management of resident care and services. This role ensures that all practices align with the standards and guidelines established by the Department of Health, NYS Board of Nursing, and Casa Promesa. The RN Manager is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team and plays a key role in providing leadership with verbal and written updates on facility operations. Additionally, the Nursing Supervisor will coordinate facility operations in the absence of facility leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Admissions & Assessments:

    • Complete initial assessments and reassessments for all new and current patients.
    • Greet admitted patients, prepare them for physical examinations and treatment, and document admissions for the Director of Nursing.
  • Leadership & Supervision:

    • Provide leadership and supervision to nursing staff, housekeeping, and security personnel.
    • Coordinate care and communication with medical support staff to ensure all resident needs are met.
    • Act as a liaison between nursing, physicians, and allied health professionals to enhance patient care coordination.
    • Provide ongoing supervision and education to LPNs, CNAs, and other staff, including training as necessary.
  • Clinical Operations:

    • Keep the Director of Nursing and on-call personnel informed of all relevant facility operations and clinical updates.
    • Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring all documentation is in compliance with regulatory standards, including manual and automated information systems.
    • Continuously assess patients’ physical and psycho-social conditions, alerting the Director of Nursing and Medical Director to any changes.
    • Oversee medication administration, ensuring compliance with the five rights of medication administration (Right Patient, Right Time, Right Drug, Right Dose, Right Route).
  • Patient Education & Care:

    • Provide patient education after assessing their learning needs, ensuring staff are informed as appropriate.
    • Prepare Nursing 24-Hour Reports for clinical updates.
  • Medical Supplies & Equipment:

    • Maintain medical supplies and equipment, collaborating with the Unit Clerk to monitor supply levels and reorder as needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance:

    • Participate in site visits and regulatory inspections (e.g., DOH), ensuring the facility meets required standards.
    • Ensure infection control protocols are followed and up to date, including testing for COVID-19, Influenza, RSV, and other illnesses as directed.
  • Incident Reporting & Problem Resolution:

    • Review and report any medical incidents, accidents, or issues related to patient care, offering solutions to resolve them.
    • Participate in case conferencing sessions to discuss resident concerns with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Administrative & Financial Duties:

    • Manage Petty Cash funds and ensure appropriate use for resident needs.
    • Process payroll for assigned units, working closely with the Staff Coordinator to ensure compliance.
    • Provide assistance with scheduling and coverage, including possible mandatory shifts when required.
    • Conduct annual evaluations for all LPNs and CNAs in the unit.
  • Medication & Record Keeping:

    • Ensure narcotic and methadone logs are up to date daily.

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor of Science of Nursing required.
    • 1-3 years of nursing experience preferred.
    • Licensed and currently registered as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
    • Current and valid, CPR (BLS)/AED Certification.
    • Current Infection Control certification (approved by NYS, valid for 4 years, 4.0 hours).
    • Familiarity with infection control protocols and regulatory standards.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
