School Psychologist
POSITION GOAL: In support of the whole child, this position aims to create and support an educational environment conducive to the fulfillment of Academia Antonia Alonso’s Mission. In doing so, it maximizes the positive impact of a student's educational experience.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the Charter. Assesses referred students with appropriate assessment and diagnostic tools
Makes referrals and recommends specific programming when appropriate
Identifies within the school all types of Exceptional Children
Maintains case records on all referred students
Conducts individual and group therapy for children
Confers with appropriate staff and parents when deemed appropriate and necessary
Consults on special education needs of all students who have identified educational disabilities
Prepares and submits all required reports for special education caseload
Participates in all relevant staff, professional, and interagency meetings
Assists with in-service training of school personnel
Participates in all relevant professional development activities
Collaborates with Student Support Team (SST) in MTSS (Multi-Tiered Student Support) process to interpret and make use of academic and behavioral data
Complies with Federal, State and Local Regulations and Policies
Accurately completes all required paperwork within the designated timelines
Utilizes all available resources materials (i.e. Employee Handbook, District website, Collaborative Agreement, Professional Code of Conduct, Administrative Procedures, school district board policies etc.), to complete required paperwork
Maintains professionalism to avoid potential violations/noncompliance
Cooperates with Federal, State and Local Agency Personnel during Alternative Education and/or Special Education Compliance Monitoring and/or dispute resolution activities.
Remains current in certification, research, instructional strategies and technology
Attends in-service programs, mandated training and self-selected workshops, conferences, courses, etc.
Reads journals, articles, investigates, internet resources and collaborates with other professional and/or mentors
Keeps certificate current and active by monitoring statues, including clock hours on the DEEDS website
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must be eligible or hold State of Delaware Certification as a School Psychologist
Doctorate degree preferred; Master’s degree considered
Proficient in Technology, Microsoft Office Applications, Children’s Educational Software etc.
Demonstrates sensitivity to diversity issues impacting various cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic groups
Shows evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective in promoting student learning to increase student achievement
Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform job related tasks Regular attendance is an essential function of the position
Must be able to serve students remotely and in person.
SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: This position is responsible for supervising the School Counselor. In addition, will conduct the interview process and supervision of Psychology Externs.
