Overview
To promote student success by providing preventive services and crisis intervention through a comprehensive program that addresses academic, career, and personal social development for all students.
Status of Position
This is a full-time position with Académie Lafayette. This is an exempt position pursuant to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Reporting
The Social Worker reports to their campus/building principal.
Responsibilities
- Plan, maintain and communicate an effective comprehensive program, including character and career education within the classroom, individual student support, group counseling, teacher education, and family services.
- Collaborate with building leadership and admissions director on parent education
- Complete home visits as needed with other support services.
- Act as 504 coordinator for the school
- Coordinate delivery of services for homebound and alternative placements.
- Implement developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and goals.
- Assist students with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals and plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs.
- Consult and collaborate effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators and other educational/community resources regarding students with identified concerns and needs.
- Implement follow-up process with students returning from out-of-school suspensions.
- Monitor student academic performance, behavior and attendance and assist with appropriate interventions.
- Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the profession.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social work
- Missouri licensure (LMSW or LCSW)
- Excellent communication skills
- 2 years experience in schools preferred
Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands
- Needs to move about within the campus as necessary
- Occasional standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing
- Occasionally requires lifting up to 25 pounds
- Ability to organize and prioritize work schedules of others on short-term basis
Other Requirements
- Must pass a state and federal background check through MACHS.
- Must be registered with the Family Care Safety Registry
