Position Description
Position Title: JROTC Instructor
FLSA: Exempt
Qualifications: Must hold a valid Arkansas Teaching License with Certification in JROTC for Grades 7-12 and is a retired United States Army Non-Commissioned Officer and must meet all the requirements approved by the Department of the Army. The instructor must possess instructional skills and techniques and effective communication skills, and has the ability to motivate students. The instructor must clear the required background check.
Report To: Building Principal
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Must teach cadets using the JROTC Curriculum during the school year by formulating lesson plans, establishing curriculum goals, and providing the needed materials to carry out all lesson designs.
• Must perform training in JROTC and academy during summer camps.
• Evaluate the performance of the cadets and provide counsel to cadets having problems meeting JROTC expectations.
• Follow all the rules of the Army and school district when teaching and supervising cadets.
• Employ different techniques and media in instructing students.
• Organize and conduct extracurricular activities for the students.
• Keep and maintain accurate records of their students.
• Guide students in developing skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to become a responsible citizen.
Other Job Responsibilities:
• Abide by state statues, code of ethics, school board policies and regulations.
• Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators and supervisors
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
• Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
