Job Summary:
Academy Development is currently seeking an experienced Land Acquisition Manager. This person must be able to source, contract, entitle, and close land transactions that meet the company’s growth plans and goals. This role will report directly to the Corporate Director of Land Acquisition & Development. The ideal candidate will be experienced in land acquisition in the market in which they work. Will have excellent communication skills, be well organized and enjoy working on projects both independently and with a team.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Identify and qualify potential land acquisitions in alignment with division goals.
- Develop a network of relationships within the business community and scout other avenues for possible acquisitions
- Negotiate the acquisition of properties with landowners, attorneys or brokers
- Manage the land/lot purchase contract process with division counsel, outside counsel and region counsel
- Prepare land valuation analysis and preliminary budgets
- Manage the due diligence process for land acquisition opportunities,
- Create, review and maintains all due diligence property documents and reports
- Manage, coordinate resources for, and meet all entitlement needs for land acquisitions
- Monitor development phases and entitlement processes post-closing
- Collaborate with the Land Development Department on potential acquisitions
- Participates in development design with land planners, engineers, architects and municipalities
- Assists with lot inventory and contract status reports
- Ensure that required property documentation is completed and stored
- Assist in preparation of budgets/pro-forma’s for proposed land development projects
- Represents developer at Municipal Utility District Meetings, Park Board, Planning Commission and City Council Meetings as directed
- Friendly and welcoming demeanor with the ability to maintain professionalism and a strong customer-focused demeanor with demanding clientele.
- Excellent time management skills, detail-orientation and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, along with advanced conflict resolution skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills and proficient in English. Must be able to articulate needs and convey information verbally and in writing effectively with employees, customers, supervisors, and co-workers throughout the organization.
- Knowledge of management methods and sound employee relations techniques with an ability to connect to staff, troubleshoot problems and help teams collaborate, as necessary.

- 3 years of land acquisition experience with increasing levels of responsibility preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree is required, concentrations in Real Estate Development, Business/Finance, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Valid driver’s license
