Job Description:
Under general supervision of the Principal, supervise the operation of the entire athletic program. The Athletic Director is responsible for the planning, facilities, community relations, and the compliance of Academy for Classical Education's program. This position provides leadership supervision, coordination, and direction for the middle and high school athletic programs in conformance to school and state policies and guidelines. This job classification requires a flexible working schedule that includes nights and weekends. Ensures compliance with all State and Federal Laws, State Department of Education Rules and Regulations, State Charter School Commission rules and regulations, and ACE policies where applicable.
Required Qualifications:
Credential: Possess a valid Georgia Certificate from the Professional Standards Commission. Educational Leadership certification is preferred or a willingness to obtain an Educational Leadership certificate within first 3 years.
Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited institution is required
Experience: High school varsity head coaching experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the facilitation of physical and academic eligibility, a requirement for participation in each sport, and verifies each athletes' eligibility.
- Remain apprised of Georgia High School Association guidelines and maintain appropriate communication with the organization. Provide guidance on GHSA compliance issues to ensure schools and coaches are following the guidelines appropriately.
- Administer guidance for sports programming.
- Confer with coaches to establish games, practices, and event schedules.
- Assist principal(s) in selection, recruitment, and supervision of coaching staff.
- Perform and promote all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies and follow federal and state laws, as well as governing board policies.
- Ensure each program maintains orderly, clean, and safe facilities and equipment. Oversees proper maintenance of all athletic fields and facilities, including practice and game fields, and the gymnasium.
- Coordinates the operation of athletic contests to ensure that transportation, officials, security, emergency response personnel, athletic trainers, and facilities are properly provided and payment for services is rendered.
- Work with principal, CFO, and head coaches as appropriate to create a budget inclusive of all athletic programs, including equipment, facilities, supplements, officials, etc.
- Monitor expenditures of system-wide programs for athletics and student activities, including bus transportation, employee supplements and facility improvements.
- Investigate, review, and resolve inquiries and complaints from parents, employees, and members of the public.
- Evaluate and provide leadership to evaluate and continuously improve each sport and overall athletic program.
- Attend athletic events.
- Coordinate professional learning for athletic staff, including CPR/Sports Safety Training, Concussion Training, etc.
- Foster positive school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
- Oversee athletic website and maintain appropriate social media presence for athletic programs.
- Develop five-year athletic strategic plan.
Terms of Employment: 210-day contract (12 month). Salary commensurate with years of experience and is based on state salary scale plus local supplement.
