Job Description: Special Education Teacher
POSITION DESCRIPTION: ACE is seeking a certified special education teacher who has experience working with students with disabilities in grades 6-12
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Hold a valid GaPSC in Special Education
- Successful classroom teaching experience with students with disabilities for 3-5 years
- Experience in a co-teaching model classroom
- Experience working with curriculum to craft lessons for students with disabilities
- Experience working with students with autism is appreciated
- Experience in using GO-IEP to develop IEP's
- Good communication skills with students, colleagues and parents
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with classroom teacher to assess student's abilities and to design engaging lessons to meet the needs of the students on the teacher's caseload
- Keep track and assess student progress daily
- Monitor behavior patterns and utilize interventions as needed
- Communicate with parents on students' progress weekly
- Manage classroom situations involving students with disabilities as needed
- Collaborate with classroom teacher and others to ensure student progress
