The assistant director is a key member of the leadership team at the Prep and Work Academy, a school that serves urban scholars with academic and career goals. The assistant director works closely with the school directors to ensure that the curriculum, instruction, and assessment are aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of the academy. The assistant director also supports the students, parents, and teachers with academic guidance, communication, and feedback.
**Key Responsibilities: **
• The assistant director oversees the academic needs of the students, conducts parent meetings, and monitors the progress of the students through supervision of the teachers.
• The assistant director conducts classroom visits and observations and reports this information back to the school directors.
• The assistant director provides coaching to the teachers and educational staff and reinforces the institutional policies, processes, and requirements.
• The assistant director supports the directors in building management and staff coaching and monitors the progress toward the educational goals of the building and the district.
• The assistant director provides educational coaching to staff that may need additional support and assists the director in coaching the engagement team.
• The assistant director steps in as the director when the directors are out and ensures that the daily operations of the building are being completed.
• The assistant director ensures that all extra planning in the building is being reinforced and implemented as expected.
• Collaborate with the directors and other leaders to develop and implement the school's vision, mission, and goals.
• Supervise and evaluate the performance of the engagement team and other staff members as assigned by the directors.
• Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for staff and students.
• Manage the school's budget, resources, and facilities in alignment with the school's priorities and policies.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
• Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes academic excellence, social-emotional learning, and civic responsibility.
• Communicate effectively and proactively with all stakeholders, including scholars, families, staff, partners, and community members.
• Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in education.
• The assistant director will work closely with the academic advisors to ensure that all data is updated and communicated regularly to scholars and their families.
• The assistant director will sit in on parent meetings to discuss overall concerns and objectives for scholars.
• The assistant director will assist the senior advisors with all senior activities and follow-throughs to ensure that all seniors meet their requirements.
• The assistant director will ensure that all state testing plans for both buildings are completed and executed successfully.
Qualifications
• A bachelor's degree in education or a valid administration certification.
• At least five years of experience in educational leadership.
• Strong knowledge of educational trends, research, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead and inspire a diverse group of educators and support staff.
• Experience in budgeting and flexibility.
• Ability to pivot and adapt to changing situations.
• Flexible scheduling and able to work weekends and late days with reasonable notice.
• Excellent quality of outcome, meeting deadlines, accountability, follow up, and follow through.

Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
