Role Overview
The Associate Director (AD) will primarily focus on coaching mentor teachers to support them in training, coaching, and developing resident teachers. By working closely with mentor teachers, the AD will ensure they have the necessary skills and strategies to guide resident teachers in their professional growth and success in hard-to-staff positions across CPS. The goal is to help resident teachers become highly effective educators and achieve licensure as Chicago Public School teachers within one year.
Key Responsibilities
Teacher Development and Readiness
- Maximize effective mentoring through observation, feedback, and clear communication
- Accelerate resident development through observation and feedback using the Teacher Development Guide, CTR Competencies, teacher moves/pedagogies, and feedback tools.
- Design and deliver Professional Development and support
- Coach and support daily to meet the needs of residents and mentors
- Monitor CTR Program Expectations such as attendance, resident performance, written feedback to residents, competency and performance task completion, mentor reflection, and goal setting
Partner Relations and Engagement (AUSL, CPS, University)
- Develop positive relationships with administrators at CTR Partnership Schools by organizing quarterly classroom walks with debriefs and informal check-ins/ thought partnering
- Facilitation at CTR Partnership School Collaboratives
Data Informed Analysis
- Use data analysis (competency completion, performance tasks, survey data, Tripod, etc.) to strengthen and innovate program
- Manage performance and program expectations using clear data targets and check-points related to teaching competencies, university grades, hiring readiness, and student learning/engagement
Requirements
Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- Professional Certification: Professional Educator License
- 5 years teaching in an urban school and 3 years of coaching or mentoring
- Skills: Proficient use of G-Suite (Google Calendar, Docs, Hangout Meets, Slides, Classrooms). Google Certified Educator
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects at one time and prioritize responsibilities
- Specialized knowledge: Danielson Framework, Elena Aguilar’s Coaching model, High Leverage Practices for Diverse Learners, Culturally Responsive Teaching, edTPA, Adult Learning, familiarity with Common Core aligned curricular resources used in CPS preferred (Skyline, CKLA, EL Education, Eureka Math, Amplify Science)
- Ability to travel between multiple school sites
Salary : $82,000 - $95,000
