What This Job is About:
The Manager, Practice Strategy and Innovation is responsible for supporting the work, goals, and strategic vision of the department of Practice Strategy and Innovation, consistent with the mission of AMCP. This role helps implement and manage AMCP’s Practice Strategy and Innovation team’s initiatives to develop programs and resources for AMCP members and other stakeholders. The Manager offers project management, operational, and administrative assistance, while also analyzing and researching managed care practice topics. This role supports AMCP’s thought leadership activities, including coordinating Partnership Forums and contributing to the development of deliverables.
More specifically, key responsibilities include:
- Identifies, analyzes, summarizes, and maintains knowledge of managed care pharmacy trends, practices, and issues
- Supports the development of information, programs, and resources for AMCP members and other internal and external stakeholders
- Prepares detailed, high-quality deliverables, such as white papers and presentations, at an appropriate level for the intended audience
- Assists with the development and submission of manuscripts and other documents by collating feedback from contributors, gathering resources, and formatting submissions to meet editorial standards, when necessary
- Assists the Practice Strategy and Innovation team with residency and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) precepting, including coordinating calendars and meetings, working with other departments on updates to the program curricula, and organizing program logistics
- Provides support in managing the activities of AMCP committees and work groups, including drafting and maintaining AMCP’s Managed Care Practice Positions
- Facilitates communications, activities, and events, raising the visibility of AMCP’s and the department of Practice Strategy and Innovation’s current initiatives while fostering AMCP member engagement
- Collaborates with other departments within AMCP and external stakeholders on various projects and initiatives
- Represents AMCP within outside professional societies and organizations
- Monitors other professional societies and organizations’ initiatives and their impact on AMCP membership and the profession
- Assists with project coordination for the AMCP Foundation on an as-needed basis
- Other duties as assigned

- A bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of experience directly working in a managed care setting, including a health plan, PBM, or pharmaceutical industry, are required. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required. An additional advanced degree or certification is preferred. Experience writing, researching, analyzing, and summarizing complex multi-stakeholder projects is preferred.
- General understanding of managed care concepts and the overall healthcare landscape
- Demonstrated ability to independently research, learn, and explain complex healthcare-related topics
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to take raw information and translate it into easily understandable language for various audiences, as well as the ability to address member questions and concerns
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including the association’s members, cross-functional internal teams, and other external stakeholders to advance the mission and goals of the organization
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated record of successfully leading and delivering large projects, including prioritizing tasks and coordinating activities to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Ability to coordinate simultaneous plans, tasks, projects, and deliverables

- Proficient with a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentations software (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Salesforce, etc.)
