Job Title: Managing Director

Position Summary:
The board of directors at ACT seek a dynamic and strategic Managing Director to partner with our current Artistic & Education Direction to lead our organization, full of experienced staff, into its next phase of growth and impact. The Managing Director will be responsible for the overall management and sustainability of the theater, with a focus on robust community outreach and fundraising initiatives and financial management. This position requires a passionate advocate for children's arts and a proven leader with strong business acumen.
Position Details:
This is an hourly position, up to 40 hours per week with potential to grow into a salaried position if/when it is financially feasible. This position will also require some evening and weekend activities as needed for production support, fundraising, and community outreach.
Key Responsibilities (not all inclusive):
- Community Outreach and Fundraising:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure diverse funding sources, including grants, sponsorships, and individual donations.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, community partners, and stakeholders.
- Lead community outreach efforts to expand the theater's visibility and impact including attending community events.
- Organize and execute fundraising events and campaigns.
- Act as the public face of the theater.
- Strategic Leadership:
- Work with the Board of Directors and the Artistic & Eduction Director to develop and implement the organization's strategic plan and annual (July 1 through June 30) budget.
- Ensure the theater's programs align with its mission and values, particularly its commitment to inclusivity.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for growth and innovation.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participating children and youth.
- Financial Management:
- Develop the annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability, in conjunction with the Artistic & Eduction Director
- Implement and maintain sound financial policies and procedures.
- Prepare and present financial reports in conjunction with the Board Treasurer to the Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in arts administration, nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, financial reporting, and fundraising.
- Excellent personnel management and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for children's theater and a commitment to inclusivity.
- Experience with grant writing and donor cultivation.
- Must pass a criminal and financial background check.
- Experience working with children.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit management, with a proven track record of success.
- Experience with theatrical production.
- Knowledge of the local arts community.
